Scores of anxious musicians ready their bands. Hundreds of people plan their Thursdays. The word is out. The Rumble is alive in Long Beach.
One by one, acts will take the stage. Bands will come to compete for cash and prizes – and, almost as importantly, to perform at the Mai Tai Bar, one of the best venues for live entertainment in Long Beach.
Some of the acts have a lot of experience performing in front of crowds; some have even recorded.
Others are fresh to the scene. But they all have one thing in common. They’ve been hand-selected for participation what will be part of Long Beach’s most exciting music competition: The Mai Tai Rumble!
2008 will mark the 7th installment of the Mai Tai Rumble in Oahu and the 3rd installment in Long Beach, California and Daytona, Florida. The event has proven itself as an entity taking a life of its own.
The list of success stories go on and on as Mai Tai Rumble champions, runners-up and even non-placing acts see their musical careers take off. Groups such as Reign, Epic Session, Red Degree, and the No-no Boys have all released CDs since participating in the competition. In Long Beach, celebrity judges such as radio personality icon Richard Blade, made Thursday nights the best place to party. Other appearances include Murphy Karges from Sugar Ray and Grammy nominated producers. Previous participants in Long Beach’s competition have been featured in television and film. Artist Kandace Ferrel, a fan favorite, had her music featured on MTV’s hit series “The Hills” and others have been led to major music opportunities in the industry.
As the fan base continues to grow, The Mai Tai Rumble remains a vital growth vehicle for the Mai Tai Bars from coast to coast. Since it’s inception, the Mai Tai Rumble music series has established Long Beach and other Mai Tai Bars as a coastal music hub where casual and cool attitudes rein, and undiscovered talent rules the airwaves.
